David Gayk graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a bachelor’s degree and obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 1982. After graduating, he practiced for two years in Manassas, Virginia, before returning to Knoxville. After one year in a South Knoxville practice, David opened Companion Animal Hospital. As a private practitioner, he has interests in dermatology, preventative medicine and internal medicine. He is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, the Knoxville Veterinary Medical Academy, and the Veterinary Information Network.
